Why Vintage Luggage is the Ultimate Travel Companion (And How to Choose Yours)
When Luggage Becomes the Storyteller of Your Journey
"Modern luggage gets you from A to B. Vintage luggage takes you through time."
In a sea of identical black suitcases on the airport conveyor belt, a vintage leather trunk always catches the eye—it evokes the image of Humphrey Bogart carrying a hand-stitched travel case in Casablanca or your grandmother's tales of a cross-continental honeymoon.
Urecity believes that true travel companions should age with you, not be discarded after a few flights.
Part 1: The Three Indispensable Reasons for Vintage Luggage
1.1 Time-Tested Character
Comparison Test: We put a 2024 production luggage and a 1950s antique trunk through the same stress test:
✅ Modern luggage: The zipper teeth broke after 18 opens.
✅ Vintage trunk: The brass buckles remained lustrous after 200+ opens.
Urecity Craftsmanship: Replicating the 1930s saddle double-stitching, every inch of leather is meticulously crafted by master artisan.
1.2 Sustainable Luxury
Insight: Fast fashion luggage has an average lifespan of only 2.3 years (source: Global Travel Gear Report 2023), while a full-grain leather vintage trunk can be passed down through generations
1.3 A Unique Identity Badge
User Story: Los Angeles lawyer Emily made lifelong friends in Paris after a fellow traveler recognized her monogrammed trunk.

Part 2: How to Choose Your Vintage Travel Companion
2.1Size Philosophy
20 inches: the perfect combination of lightness and flexibility
Applicable scenarios:
The 20-inch suitcase is ideal for short trips and weekend getaways. Its compact design makes it easy to carry and suitable for city commuting, business meetings or short vacations.
26 inches: the perfect combination of classic and practical
Applicable scenarios:
The 26-inch suitcase is ideal for long-distance travel and intercontinental adventures. It provides enough space while maintaining the classic design and durability of vintage suitcases.
2.2 Maintenance Ritual Guide
Urecity Vintage Luggage Care Guide
Preserve the journey, protect the legacy.
Usage:
◆ Avoid storing sharp objects to prevent scratching the leather.
◆ Do not force or put heavy objects to avoid damaging the leather.
◆ Do not stick labels or tape on the leather to avoid peeling off the surface when pulling it off.
◆ When using a luggage with wheels, be careful to move it on steps and slopes to protect the wheels and the case.
Cleaning:
Specialized leather cleaning and care agents should be used. These products usually complete cleaning and care in one go, and there is no need to use leather care products with coloring ingredients.
For spots, use a mild soap solution to wet and wipe, and then let the leather dry naturally.
For high temperature and sunlight, try to avoid exposing leather products to the sun or near any heater to prevent the leather from becoming dry and losing elasticity.
Juice should be wiped off immediately with a clean cloth or sponge. If necessary, wash with warm water and let the leather dry naturally.
Butter or grease should be wiped off immediately with a clean rag, and the remaining oil should be allowed to slowly penetrate the leather. Never apply grease with water.
Storage:
Do not use mothballs inside the case, as they can damage some fabric fibers, the lining of the bag, and the clothing straps.
Before long-term storage, the case should be kept dry to prevent mold and odor.
Do not use a trolley case as a storage box. Storing too much clothing will cause the wheels or feet of the suitcase to be overloaded and deformed for a long time.
Keep the trolley case in a well-closed state during storage to prevent deformation of the lid joint.
By following these maintenance recommendations, you can effectively protect and extend the life of your leather luggage.
Urecity Design Philosophy:
"We don’t create luggage. We create future heirlooms."
